Wing Needle Butterflies

Looking for something a little different?  Wanting a little twist to your embroidery?  But it needs to be easy, right?  These designs are just the ticket.  Introducing Wing Needle Butterflies!  Using a wing needle you’ll create a very delicate, pretty texture to your fabric.  What’s a wing needle you say?  It’s a sewing needle that is wide on the sides and large.  The “wings” of the needle create holes in the fabric.  As crazy as that sounds, it’s a very pretty affect when combined with special decorative stitches.  Wing needle work is traditionally used in heirloom type pieces.  However, I like to “think outside the box” and try new things.  While you could easily embroidery these butterflies in traditional tone-on-tone colors for the look of heirloom, I wanted to play with happy, fun colors!  There are 10 designs which fit in the 5x7 (130x180) hoop.  Instructions to create the wing needle affect are included within the color chart provided.
